Music Deaths: Eugene Pitt of the Jive Five

Founding member and lead singer of the Jive Five.  The Brooklyn native helped form the group in 1959.

They were best-known for "My True Story"  (##-1961), co-written by him.

They also charted with "I'm A Happy Man"  (#36-1965) and "What Time Is It"  (#67-1962).

He also did uncredited work on the jingle and music for Nickelodeon in the 1980s.  He also backed up Gloria Gaynor on her "Never Can Say Goodbye"  (#9-1975).
