WLS Top 30 for Week of August 10, 1970-- Part 2: "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)"

*  Song is dropping down charts.

25.  MORNING MUCH BETTER--  Ten Wheel Drive     #74   (D)  A horn band that surprisingly didn't chart better.  They even had a banjo in it.  Ten member jazz-rock ensemble led by Genya Ravan.

24.  PATCHES--  Clarence Carter     #4    A soulful "Honey."  Now Dr. CC's father was a real father.

23.  *LAY DOWN (CANDLES IN THE WIND)--  Melanie     #6   This song will always remind me of the Kent State Riots at Northern Illinois University.  I distinctly remember looking out the window of my dorm room in Lincoln Hall and watching protesters form a line on the west side of Annie Glidden Road and their being attacked by police.  This song was playing on the school radio station, WNIU.

22.  *ARE YOU READY--  Pacific Gas & Electric   #14    West Coast blues-rock quintet.

21.  *BALL OF CONFUSION--  Temptations     #3    Funny how some songs just transcends the ages.  And, we're talking half a century, 50 years on this tune.  Full title:  "Ball of Confusion (That's What the World Is Today)."

Name That Tune (from the above songs):  "An Eye For An Eye, A Tooth For A Tooth.  Vote For Me And I'll Set You Free.  Rap On, Brother, Rap On."  Answer below.  --RoadDog
