This morning at 10 a.m., Bob Stroud played ten summer songs on his Ten at Ten show on Chicago's WDRV, 97.1 FM, the Drive.  The fact that its really warm, with 99 degrees forecast, June 21st and the fact that he played these ten songs makes me stringly believe that we must have enetered the best time of the year.  And, that would be... Good Times Around Here July 29-30: Trivia, Donovan's, Firebird Cruises, It's Thursday, Band, Fish Fry and Stucky's

As usual, Summer, where else do you want to be besides around here.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 28

Played trivia during the afternoon at Donovan's Reef in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, and enjoyed the half price Happy Hour.

THURSDAY, JULY 29

I went for a cruise in the '85 Firebird while enjoying Summer Music from Bob Stroud's Rock and Roll Roots show on WDRV on the cassette deck.  Then went to It's Thursday in Antioch, Illinois, where I saw the band Hillbilly Rock Stars who played country music.

FRIDAY, JULY 30

Took another Firebird Cruise and drove over to the VFW in McHenry to try their fish fry and watch the New Odyssey Guy perform his music show, but it was too crowded so ended up at Stucky's in Johnsburg and had their fish fry and a good time talking with friends.  Stucky's is one of our main hangouts.

Go Back to June 7, 1970, With Bob Stroud This Sunday

I was wondering what was going to happen with Bob Stroud's very popular "Summer of" series on his Rock and Roll Roots shows on Chicago's WDRV, 97.1 (96.9) FM, the Drive.  He started it with the "Summer of Love, 1967" and took a look back four times every summer to 40 years ago.  Last summer, he did the "Summer of 1979."

But the problem is that his show features the music of the 1960s and 1970s.  Now, we're into the 1980s as far as forty years ago is concerned.  He can't really go there.  So, what was he to do.  I was wondering anyway.

Yesterday on his Ten at ten show, I found out.  He is going back FIFTY YEARS, that's right, HALF A CENTURY!!  to the songs on the radio and in your record collection back on June 7, 1970.

It steams at www.wdrv.com and runs from 9 to noon EDST on Sunday.  Then, it rebroadcasts from 9 to midnight that night.

Give It A Listen.  The Stroud Crowd  --RoadStroud
