Music Deaths: Motown Backup Singer Marlene Judy Barrow-Tate

MARLENE JUDY BARROW-TATE, 73.  Died Feb. 23, 2015.

Member of Motown's backup singers group Andantes which also included Louvain Demps and Jacqueline Hicks.  They, and not the Supremes, sang backup on Diana Ross' "Someday We'll Be Together."  Also sang on Mary Wells' "My Guy" and Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Reach Out I'll Be There" for the Four Tops.

They al;so sang on some non-Motown hits like Jackie Wilson's "Higher and Higher" and the Dells' "Stay With Me."
