Seven Surprising Things Your Insurance Covers-- Part 3

5.  DOG BITES--  If your dog is a bad dog and bites someone, your homeowner's policy should cover it.  One-third of all homeowners insurance liability claims are related to dog bites.  Standard policies cover between $100,000 to $300,000.  But, what if your cat bites you or someone? What about the pet bird?

6.  DORM ROOM THEFT--  If your kid's flat-screen TV disappears at college, don't panic.  Most policies cover your children's college rooms, but most require the kid to be living on campus (so frat rooms are not covered).

7.  DEFENSE LAWYER--  No matter how careful you are, one accident at your home can entangle you in costly legal problems.  Your liability coverage should help pay for it.
