"Twistin' and Shoutin'"-- Part 2

From Wikipedia.

The original title of "Twist and Shout" was supposed to be "Shake It Up Baby.".  It became a chart hit for the Isley Brothers with their 1962 cover.  It became a big hit when the Beatles released it on their first U.K. album, Please Please me.

Chaka Demus had a #1 hit in the U.K. with it in 1994.

The Who have performed the song throughout their career.

Bruce Springsteen has played it in concert 350 times.

Phil Spector produced it (before his Wall of Sound).

It was the Isley Brothers' first big hit and notched their first Billboard Top 20 on the pop charts, peaking at #17 (It went to #2 on the R&B chart.)

Ronald Isley sang lead on it.

When the Beatles recorded it, John Lennon had a cold which is why his voice sounds that way.

When they recorded Please Please Me, they did 11 songs in ten hours.  This was the last one recorded.

The Beatles' single of the song was released March 2, 1964, with "There's a Place" as the "B" side.

YOU THINK ENGLISH IS EASY?  Let's face it, English is a crazy language.  there is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple or in in pineapple.
