Music Deaths: Member of the Dixie Cups

JOAN MARIE JOHNSON (FAUST), 72  Died October 7, 2016.

With her cousins Barbara Ann and Rosa Lee Hawkins, formed the trio Dixie Cups.  They formed to compete in their high school talent contest in 1863, as the Mel-Tones.

Their biggest hit was "Chapel of Love" (#1-1964).  Also had hits with "People Say" (#12-1964) and "Iko Iko" (#20-1965).
