Music Deaths: Johnny Hutchinson, Turned Down the Beatles
I get the deaths from the Hope I Die Before I Get Old site.
JOHNNY HUTCHINSON, 78
Died April 12, 2019
From the April 25, 2019 Independent "Johnny Hutchinson: Merseybeat drummer who turned down the Beatles" by Phil Shaw.
Well, the Fab Four might well have been John. Paul, George and Hutch. He was the drummer of the popular Liverpool group The Big Three with Johnny Gustafson and Adrian Barber. They once rivalled the Beatles for popularity in their home town.
Known to his friends as Hutch or Johnny Hutch, he filled in on the drums for the Beatles in 1960 and 1962. Later, he claimed that he was offered the job as drummer when Pete Best left the group. He said he had no regrets turning them down.
I went to You Tube and listened to some of their songs since I'd never heard of them and they were very good. And, those girls were screaming at their shows as well. Give 'em a listen.
