WLS Top 30 for Week of March 8, 1971-- Part 3: 'What Is Life'

The number after the artist is how high it got on the Billboard National Charts.  The * in front of the name means the song was climbing the WLS charts.

20.  *HELP ME MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT--  Sammi Smith      #8      A classic country song written by Kris Kristofferson.   Born in Orange County, Ca., raised in Oklahoma.

19.  *WHAT IS LIFE--  George Harrison      #2      From his "All Things Must Pass" album.  A triple album.  Do you think he was about ready to leave the Beatles anyway?

18.  SWEET MARY--  Wadsworth Mansion     #7    Was this a drug song?  Their only Top 100 song.

17.  MR. BOJANGLES--  Nitty Gritty Dirt Band        #9      Doing that old soft shoe.  Written by Jerry Jeff Walker who died recently.  "But the dog up and _____."

16.  HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE RAIN--  Creedence Clearwater Revival.      #8       I've said it once and I'll say it again.  My all-time favorite group.  I went out and bought their albums as soon as they came out.

Name That Tune (from the above songs): "With Silver Hair And Ragged Shirt And Baggy Pants."  Answer below.  --RoadDog
