WLS Top 30 for Week of March 8, 1971-- Part 4: 'What's Going On'

* in front of the song means it was climbing the WLS chart.  The number behind the artist is how high it got on the Billboard Hot 100 national charts.

15.  *COUNTRY ROAD--  James Taylor      #37    Talk about your laid back.

14.  * WHAT'S GOING ON--  Marvin Gaye     #2      A song of the times fifty years later.

13.  *LOVES, LINES, ANGLES & RHYMES--  Fifth Dimension       #19     Not one of their better known ones, but good nonetheless.  Dorothea Joyce wrote the song.

12.  IF YOU CAN READ MY MIND--  Gordon Lightfoot      #5     From Canada.  A comment:  There is beauty in the sadness of the song."

11.   ONE TOKE OVER THE LINE--  Brewer & Shipley      #10        Folk-rock duo.   Tom Shipley currently lives in Rolla, Missouri, on Route 66.    I also like their "Tarkio Road" song, which is about the roads in northwest Missouri they used to drive between college gigs.

Name That Tune (from the above songs):  "Sittin' Downtown In A Railway Station."  Answer below.  --RoadDog
