WLS Top 40 for December 9, 1968-- Part 1: "If I Can Dream"

These were the Top 40 songs on Chicago's WLS, 890 AM from fifty years ago, December 9, 1968.

(D) means it is a debut song.  The number after the performer is how high it got on the national Billboard charts.

40.  IF I CAN DREAM--  Elvis Presley   (D)     #12    His biggest hit since 1965.      It's the all-black Elvis.  Starts off soft and builds to a crescendo.  Very inspiring indeed.  This was his "Comeback."

39.  SOMEONE TO LOVE ME--  Bobby Vee   (D)    #98    Full title  "I'm Looking For Someone To Love Me."    Never heard this one before, but good song.   Near the end of his career.

38.  GOING UP THE COUNTRY--  Canned Heat    #11    Their biggest hit.   (D)   A great driving song.  Right up there with "On the Road Again."

37.  RAY OF HOPE--  Rascals     (D)     #24     Never heard it before.  They'd come a long way since 1964.  Brotherhood and peace.

36.  RIGHT RELATIONS--  Johnny Rivers    #61     Not what you'd expect from him.   A love song.

Name That Tune (from the above songs):  "All This Fussing And Fighting, Man, You Know I Sure Can't Stay."   Answer below.
