WLS Top 40 for December 9, 1968-- Part 3: "Soulful Strut"

The number after the artist is how high the song got on the national Billboard Top 100 Chart.

30.  SOULFUL STRUT--  Young Holt Trio     #3    The biggest of three hits by the Chicago group.   A soulful instrumental by a group also called Young Holt Unlimited.

29.  PICKIN' WILD MOUNTAIN BERRIES--  Peggy Scott / Jo Jo Benson      #27    Soul duo's biggest hit.     Try to hear it and not butt scoot, especially the beginning.

28.  KENTUCKY WOMAN--  Deep Purple    #38   Going heavy with a Neil song.  British pioneer heavy metal band.   Follow up to "Hush" which went to #4 in 1968.

27.  STRAIGHT LIFE--  Bobby Goldsboro     #36     Toured with Roy Orbison 1962-64 before going out on his own.   Probably couldn't make a song with this title anymore.  Might offend someone.

26.  SCARBOROUGH FAIR--  Sergio Mendes / Brazil 66     #16     Follow  up to their versions of "The Look of Love" and "The Fool On the Hill."   A Latin jazz up of the Simon & Garfunkel hit.  Great song.

Name That Tune (from the above songs):  "She Shines In her Own Kind Of Light."  Answer below.  --RoadDog
