Listen to this man. Seven years of college, you know. Trying to reason with 2020 and, now, 2022.

Going Back to the Summer of '79-- Part 10: "Let's Go"

That's right.  Forty years ago.  Every summer since 2007, Bob Stroud has gone back forty years to that summer in antiquity and played the songs on the radio and in your record collection on every first Sunday June, July, August and September.  This is on his Rock and Roll Roots show every Sunday on Chicago's WDRV, 97.1 and simulcast on 96.9 from 7 to 10 a.m..

Since Rock and Roll Roots is just for the sixties and seventies, I don't know where he'll go from here with it since next summer will be the 40th anniversary of Summer 1980.  I wouldn't mind having him go back to 1960 and start doing the 60th anniversaries.

Meanwhile, you can keep following my WLS Countdown Surveys from fifty years ago.

Anyhow, these are the songs Stroud played this past Sunday, September 1.  These are the songs you'd be hearing on the radio or have in your collections on September 1, 1979.

LET'S GO--  Cars
LIFE DURING WARTIME--  Talking Heads
GOLD--  John Stewart

THE ROCHESTRA THEME--  Paul McCartney & Wings
CRUEL TO BE KIND--  Nick Lowe
LONESOME LOSER--  Little River Band

Name That Tune (from the above songs):  "Beaten By The Queen Of Hearts Every Time."  Answer below.  --RoadDog
