Music Deaths: Chuck Barksdale, 84, Member of the Dells
CHUCK BARKSDALE, 84
Died May 15, 2019
Bass singer with the popular Soul Music group, the Dells for over fifty years. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. The fictional group in the movie "The Five Heartbeats" was based on the group.
The group formed in Harvey, Illinois, and had hits such as "There Is" (#20-1968), "Stay In My Corner" (#10-1968) and "Oh What A Night" (10-1969)
