WLS Top 40 for October 13, 1969-- Part 1: "Smile A Little Smile"

These were the Top 40 songs on Chicago's WLS 890 AM back fifty years ago.  A (D) means it is a debut song.  The number after the artist is how high the song got on Billboard's Hot 100 national chart.

I usually listen to all of the songs in the top 40 but have been having serious computer problems which hopefully now are solved.  I only listened to 36-40.  The rest of the songs will have just comments by Joel Whitburn in his "Top Pop Singles 1955-1993" book.

40.  TEN COMMANDMENTS--   Little Anthony / Imperials     #82    (D)    Full name "The Ten Commandments of Love."    A bit too much, but grows on you with repeated listenings.

39.  LEAVING ON A JET PLANE--  Peter, Paul & Mary    (D)      #1   Such vocalizing.  Give me some Folk!!!

38.  YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVIN' FEELIN'--  Dionne Warwick    #16     (D)    Move over Righteous Brothers.  This is Dionne putting her spin on the song.

37.  SMILE A LITTLE SMILE--   Flying Machine     #5    (D)  Love that horn at the beginning of the song.  Who is this Rose Marie?

36.  ROOSEVELT & IRA LEE--  Tony Joe White    #44      (D)   "Polk Salad Annie" Part 2.   watch where you're steppin'.

Name That Tune (from the above songs):  "All My Bags Are Packed, I'm Ready To Go."  Answer below.  --RoadDog
