Drummer. Played with Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash.
Nicknamed "Fluke." Never trained as a drummer. Was an air conditioner repairman who enjoyed concerts. Started playing upright bass for Carl Perkins.
He was on drums when the "Million Dollar Quartet" recorded in 1956 with Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley. In 1960, joined Johnny Cash for a two-week stint that ended up 37 years.
Member of Johnny Cash's backing band, the Tennessee Three. Last surviving member of the original Tennessee Three.
Also recorded with Roy Orbison, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.
