Music Deaths in 2014: Member of Manhattan Transfer

TIM HAUSER, 72  Died Oct. 16, 2014.

Founding member of Manhattan Transfer.  Born in troy, N.Y., in 1941.  Moved to New Jersey where he formed a doo-wop group.  Produced the Viscounts version of "Harlem Nocturne (#52 in 1959).  Went to Villanova University where he sang with Jim Croce.

Created the original Manhattan Transfer in 1969 and recorded one album before they broke up.  Reformed in 1972.

On big hits "Operator (#22 in 1975) and "Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone" (#31 in 1980).  They also did a remake of the Ad-Libs "Boy From New York City" (#7 in 1981).

Received ten Grammy Awards.
