WLS Top 40 for December 15, 1969-- Part 1: "When Julie Comes Around"

Theses were the Top 40 songs in Chicago fifty years ago this week.

WLS, 890 AM and WCFL, 1000 AM were the two biggest stations that young people listened to.

40.  SUNDAY MORNING--  Oliver    #35       (D)  Never heard it before.  Starts off slow, but gets better.

39.  WHEN JULIE COMES AROUND--  Cuff Links    (D)     #45    A forgotten gem, even with a pretty silly video.

38.  I'LL HOLD OUT MY HAND--  Clique     #45      I didn't remember it.  Their biggest hit was a few months earlier with  #22 "Sugar on Sunday."  They had the first version of "I Am Superman" with which REM had a big hit.  Give it a listen.

37.  WINTER WORLD OF LOVE--  Engelbert Humperdink     #16    (D)   Quite the ballad from quite the crooner.   Born Arnold George Dorsey in Madras, India.

36.  WEDDING BELL BLUES--  Fifth Dimension--    #1   Wow!!  That Marilyn McCoo!!
