Music Deaths 2015: "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", Crickets and Big Brother

These are taken from Oldies Music News.  They do an admirable job keeping up with deaths of musicians as well as updates on what they are doing.  Worth checking out.

ANITA DARRIEN, 87  Died Feb. 1, 2015.  Uncredited high-voice background singer on the Tokens' "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" (#1 in 1961).  Also sank with Mickey & Sylvia on "Love Is Strange" (#11 in 1957).

JOE B. MAUDLIN, 74, Died Feb. 7, 2015.  Bassist of the group Crickets who backed Buddy Hooly.  Played on "Maybe Baby" (#17 in 1958), "Oh Boy" (#10 in 1958) and wrote "Well..All Right" in 1958.

SAM ANDREW, 73.  Died Feb. 12, 2015.  Founder and lead guitarist of Big Brother & the Holding Company.  Played on "Piece of My Heart" (#12 in 1968).  Left group along with Janis Joplin in1968 to form her Kosmic Blues Band.
