These Are Times That Try White Sox Fans' Souls

This season can't end too soon. How can a team that won the World Series just two years ago and had a good season last year sink to these depths?

Last weekend was the worst of all. The White Sox were swept in a four game series by the Boston Red Sox. AND, not JUST swept. Did someone get the license of that truck that drove over us? This was embarrassing. The Sox were outscored 46-7 and the BoSox had double digit runs in all four games.

As of yesterday, they were 20 games under .500 (first time since 1989) and deeply mired in last-place in the AL Central. Even lowly KC has passed us. The last 19 games, the Sox have posted a sterling 3-16 record. They just got swept by last place AL West powerhouse Texas and managed to rally to edge out last place Tampa Bay on Monday's make up game. The only team in the AL with a worse record is Tampa Bay.

This is a lesson in pitiful.

Where's the hitting, which has improved a little since the embarrassment of the first two months? Forget pitching and we don't even want to talk about the relief pitching other than Bobby Jenks. Defense is suspect, especially after the four errors in the third inning that doomed the Sox on Thursday.

Let's hope that now that September is here, they will call up a lot of players from the minors and see what they can do for the rest of this sorry season.

Can the Season End Fast Enough?
