Just Got In From Shoveling Three Inches of Snow: Quite the Winter 'Round Here

It is still snowing with 4-8 inches of much unneeded snow to fall here today. Running out of places to put the stuff. Sure getting my exercise. The Northwest Herald which serves McHenry County says this is one of our most severe winters ever. //// We had a bad one in the winter of 1978-1979 which included lots of snow, a real big blizzard and some severe cold. (This one reminds me a lot of that one...when I had a much smaller driveway and was much younger) //// In 1983, we had one day with a wind chill of -80 degrees. //// So far, winter '13-'14 has featured two Arctic vortexes (we now really know what that is, a new word in the vocabulary). As of Feb. 6, Chicago has received 68.7 inches and since then we've had three 4-6 inch snows. McHenry has had 31 days of subzero temps and at one point it remained under zero degrees for 60 straight hours. //// However, Thursday we're supposed to get all the way up to 40 degrees. //// Where's My Suntan Lotion? --RoadDog
