An Interview With Chicago's WDRV DJ Bob Stroud-- Part 1

From the July 2014, Illinois Entertainer.

Bob Stroud has been a Chicago radio personality for nearly four decades now and the last 12 have been at Chicago's WDRV 97.1 FM.  "Very few people in the world know more about Rock and Roll music than Bob Stroud."

I have been a long-time fan of Bob Stroud and I agree that his knowledge of rock is pretty much unbelievable.  He has two shows that I am particularly fond of and mention often: Ten at ten (earlier post today) and his Sunday morning Rock and Roll Roots show.  I am generally right by the radio to listen to these shows.  I am always amazed by the depth of his knowledge and enjoy all the little tidbits he offers up after songs.

Some of what he said in the interview:

BEST CONCERT:  Paul McCartney at Wrigley Field.  Roy Orbison at the Riviera.

FAVORITE FEMALE ROCKERS:  Joni Mitchell and Laura Nyro.

FAMOUS ROCKERS HE'S MET:  He's met Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson several times.  The worst rocker was Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, whom Stroud described as a "complete dick on the air."

More to Come.  --RoadDog
