So, Who Were Reparata & the Delrons?-- Part 2

From Wikipedia.

The name Reparata.  Where did it come from?

I spent quite awhile listening to quite a few other Reparata & the Delrons songs on Your Tube.  Taking you right back to the golden Girl Group sound.

Wikipedia  said they were best-known for the song in question, "Whenever a Teenager Cries.  In 1968, they had a European hit with "Captain of Your Ship."  In 1975, Reparata had a solo hit with "Shoes."

The classic lineup of the group was from 1965 to 1969 with Lorraine Mazzola, NanetteLican and Mary Alese.  But they started as a five-person high school harmony group called the Delrons (OK, that is where the group name came from, but what about Reparata?).  They formed at St. Brendan's Catholic School in Brooklyn, New York.

The lead singer was Mary Alese.  As a trio, they were spotted by producers Bill and Steve Jerome who asked Mary Alese to choose a stage name to make the group sound more interesting.  She chose Reparata, her confirmation name she had taken from one of her favorite teachers.

So, that's How. More to Come.   --RoadDog
