How 'Bout That No-Hitter

We were at Tommy's in Spring Grove, Illinois, this past Wednesday, talking with friends, enjoying the $1 bottles and sort of watching the Philadelphia-Cincinnati game on TV. Music was playing, so the sound was down, but I knew the Phillies had a 4-0.

During the 7th inning, J.C. came over and said that the Phillies pitcher, Roy Halladay had a no-hitter going. After that, we paid much more attention, especially when the Reds were at bat. Everyone was pulling for Halladay to go all the way.

And, he did!!

The numbers, and they are IMPRESSIVE, according to the October 7th Chicago Tribune.

25-- 1st-pitch strikes out of 28 batters faced

3-- counts that reached three balls

79-- number of strikes thrown

104-- number of pitches

1956-- the only other no-hitter in postseason history (Don Larsen's perfect game)

5-- pitchers with 2 no-hitters on a season (the last one was Nolan Ryan in 1973)

Halladay also threw a perfect game earlier this season.

I'm pulling for the Reds, but that night, Go Phillies.

Pretty Impressive. Congrats Roy! --RoadDog
