Joe South-- Part 1: Born Joe Souter

Joe South had the #26 song, "Games People Play"  in Chicago on the WLS Silver Dollar Survey for the week of March 10, 1969.  It was on its way down after peaking at #8 February 7 and 14.  It peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Here's what Joel Whitburn had to say about him in his "Top Pop Singles 1955 -1993."

Born Joe Souter on 2/28/40 in Atlanta.  Successful Nashville session guitarist/songwriter in the  mid-1960s.  Wrote "Down In the Boondocks,"  "Hush" and "Rose Garden."

His only other solo Top 40 was "Walk A Mile In My Shoes"  (#12-1970).
