From the May 13th Chicago Tribune.
Oil company executives defended their industry despite rising public outcry at their gas prices. After all, they just made $35 BILLION in first quarter profits. And they still think they should get their subsidies to provide their product.
They were primarily under attack by Democrats. Republicans are much friendlier to them. Oil companies Chevron, Exxon Mobil, Shell Oil, ConocoPhillips and BP America were on the hot seat.
Chevron CEO John Watson said, "Don't punish our industry for doing its job well."
The oilmen argued that scaling back their tax breaks would unfairly single out their industry, hamper their ability to pursue new energy supplies and put jobs at risk.
Oil executives say they are not to blame for the high gas prices because it is a global commodity.
Hey, guys, how about using some of that profit to continue searching for new supplies. Forget about your almighty investors and think about the good of regular folk for a change.
I Really hate Those Guys. --RoadDog
