Listen to this man. Seven years of college, you know. Trying to reason with 2020 and, now, 2022.

Music Deaths: John Geils (J. Geils)

JOHN GEILS, 71.

Died April 11, 2017.

So, now I know what the J. stood for in the group's name.

Guitarist and leader of J. Geils Band.  Formed 1967 in Massachusetts with vocalist Peter Wolf.  Their original sound was R&B.

They had big hits with "Looking for a Love"  (#39-1972), "Give It to Me"  (#30-1973) and "Must Have Got Lost"  (#12-1975).

By the 1980s, they had more of a New Wave sound and had their greatest success with "Centerfold" (#1-1982,  "Freeze Frame"  (#4-1982) and then returned to their old R&B sound with "I Do"  (#24-1983).

They have been nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, but never selected.

They surely are good enough to be in the Hall of Fame.  One of my favorite bands.  I sure liked "Love Stinks."
