Must've Been the Ditka Jersey

My wife Liz got me two Bear jerseys for Christmas. I won't wear any of the new guys' numbers because, as the old man on "A Christmas Story" said, "They're playing more like the Chicago Chipmunks." Right, Alvin? ALvin, ALVin, ALVIN!!!

One was Walter Payton's number 34 and the other Mike Ditka's 68. I took the Ditka jersey out last night to Tommy's here in Spring Grove for the Monday Night Game against the hated Vikings and their new qb, a long-time nemesis.

We usually watch night games at home in Margaritaville, but felt we needed shoulders to complain on as everyone figured this was going to be a real train wreck. Minnesota is a much superior team to the Bears this year.

This was not the Bears we've come to expect that took the field. The old fire was back. These guys wanted to win and performed for a change. Even Old Stone Face was animated on the sidelines.

We had ourselves a grand old time. Lots of cheering and quite a few other guys wearing old Bear jerseys. Besides some Paytons, there was a Butkus and even a Nagursky, as in Bronco Nagursky. Now, there is a BEAR fan! Liz went up to him and he thanked her for noticing the jersey. He also wears a Bear hat with a bear head on it, and said most ask him about that and not the jersey.

Enjoyed those $2 23-ounce arm curls as well.

Lots of TVs to watch as well, but Tommy's should put a bank of them in the center of the bar.
