Axed TV for 2011-- Part 1

From the Yahoo! TV Blog by Brian Waters.

Over 80 TV shows got the axe in 2011. I had never watched most of them, thankfully, as I always hate when a favorite of mine goes into the vast deadland.

These are my favorite no longer-with-us shows and some comments.

BETTER WITH YOU, ABC-- The comparisons between the three couples was hilarious. I especially liked the parents.

CHASE, NBC-- Just good old drama and action and one really tough gal.

DEFENDERS. CBS-- Love that Jim Belushi and the Chicago connection.

DETROIT 1-8-7, ABC-- One superb cop drama. Setting it in inner city Detroit was a great move. In the opening episode, two detectives went out to a bridge to find a spent bullet for a case. They found what seemed to be about ten. That pretty well summed it up. This and the next show are the two that I will miss the most.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, NBC-- Definitely "Don't Miss TV for Me." Since we don't have Direct TV, I couldn't wait to see the new episodes.

GLORY DAZE, TBS-- OK, I am an Unreconstructed Frat Rat.

More to Come. --RoadDog

HOW'S THAT AGAIN? Barking up the wrong tree...talking about something that was completely the wrong issue with the wrong person. (A hunting term when the hounds bark at the base of a tree and the animal isn't there.)

Re Belushi - there are two Portillo's in southern California, one of which is in Moreno Valley (roughly 60 miles east of Los Angeles). The restaurant includes pictures of Jim Belushi, who was invited for the grand opening.

I guess he's a professional Chicagoan or Chicagolander or whatever the term is, kinda like how Joe Piscopo is a professional representative of New Jersey (although with the Jersey Shore kids, perhaps Piscopo doesn't emphasize his Jersey roots any more).
