Listen to this man. Seven years of college, you know. Trying to reason with 2020 and, now, 2022.

Where Were You March 6, 1965?-- Part 1

Yesterday, the Drive's Bob Stroud Time Warped us back to that date in 1965 and 1975.

March 6, 1965, I was in 8th grade at Winston Park Junior High School in Palatine. We lived in the huge Winston-Muss subdivision, having moved into a new house (for $22,000) in the summer of 1962.

I had a group of friends from school and we played sports, usually baseball or football, at the open ground across Anderson Drive from our house, weather permitting.

I was also in MYF, Methodist Youth Fellowship, at the Palatine Methodist Church downtown.

We survived even if our parents could not stay on constant touch with us over the cell phones. We also walked or rode our bikes everywhere in town.

Bob's quotes first. Mine in parentheses. Like Bob said, the British Invasion was definitely on.

SHOTGUN-- JR. WALKER & THE ALL STARS-- Motown in your radio. (loved the gun sound at the beginning.)
YEH YEH-- GEORGIE FAME AND THE BLUE FLAMES-- brand new.

GO NOW-- MOODY BLUES-- British Invasion group's first hit, the cover of an obscure R&B song.
I GO TO PIECES-- PETER AND GORDON-- British Invasion song written by American Del Shannon.
