Going Back to 1970-- Part 1

This past Sunday, Wendy Rice of WXRT, 93.1 FM in Chicago, did her Saturday Morning Flashback Show back to 1970. As usual, great music and information about the songs and events happening back then.

Here is a list of songs she played. Some of you older folks might remember some of these. I turned 19 that year, attending Northern Illinois University.

I HEAR YOU KNOCKING-- Dave Edmunds
DOMINO-- Van Morrison-- two albums by Van Morrison in 1970.
THE SHAPE I'M IN-- Band-- From album Stage Fright.
LAKE SHORE DRIVE-- Aliotta, Haynes & Jeremiah-- An all-time great song about a famous Chicago road. Local boys.

MAYBE I'M AMAZED-- Paul McCartney & Wings-- first solo hit after leaving you-know-who.
QUINN THE ESKIMO-- Bob Dylan (before Manfred Mann did it. Before Manfred Mann got it.
COME AND GET IT-- Badfinger
SWEET BABY JAMES-- James Taylor (How do you get better music than this? Couldn't help but sing-a-long with it.)

OOH CHILD-- Five Stairsteps-- Great Chicago Soul.
WHY DOES LOVE HAVE TO BE SO SAD-- Derek & the Dominoes
INSTANT KARMA-- John Lennon
THE ONLY LIVING BOY IN NEW YORK CITY-- Simon & Garfunkel

Taking me Right Back. --RoadDog

LIVING NEAR CHICAGO...If your road map is a few weeks old, throw it out and buy and new one. If you live in Naperville, throw it out if it is more than a day old. What with all the building.
