Another Good Weekend Here on the Chain

No boating, though, because of storms coming through Friday and Saturday and a definite threat on Sunday. We're still trying to get to the target 40 times out on the boat for the season. Since we didn't start until July, it's kind of a press job.

We love boating, but definitely not in the rain.

FRIDAY, August 12th-- Enjoyed the buck bottles at Gasoline Alley overlooking Grasslake.

SATURDAY, August 13th-- Late getting to the Legion picnic in Fox Lake because of a particularly nasty storm that came roaring through about noon (probably the same one that caused all the damage at the Indiana State Fair). The picnic had been moved inside. But later, skies cleared and we went out to the pavilion and enjoyed the view of Nippersink Lake and the free beer until we floated the kegs.

Ended up doing karaoke until 9:30. I even sang quite a few songs.

SUNDAY, August 14th-- Enjoyed the gazebo and then we drove to Johnsburg, Illinois, where we attended St. John's Parishfest, something we do every year because Liz's childhood friend, Mike, is in the band New Odyssey who play every year (one of the three members loves in Johnsburg and Mike's cousin was one time a priest at the church).

It had threatened to rain all morning, but cleared up and we had a great day to have it. Really good food and $1.50 beers. New Odyssey features 30 instruments which they play throughout the show. And, on one Beatle medley, they play all of them. They also have numerous skits that make this one band you really want to see if you get a chance.

Plus, one of Liz's girlfriends from back in Chicago came out.

Good Weekend. --RoadDog
