What Were You Doing July 31, 1971?-- Part 5

That was 40 years ago. if you remember it, you're getting ___.

WALK AWAY-- JAMES GANG-- Another power trio (so was the previous group played, grand Funk Railroad) that was big in its day. From their Thirds album. "Let's vote the singer Joe Walsh for President!)
YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND-- JAMES TAYLOR-- originally the song appeared on Carole King's Tapestry album. A month later on his new album Mudslide Slim and the Blue Horizon.

NATHAN JONES-- SUPREMES-- one of their final hits. (Diana has left the group.)
DRAGGIN' THE LINE-- TOMMY JAMES-- In the Top Ten.

LIAR-- THREE DOG NIGHT-- (This was my second Marine Corps song. The guy who said i was going to have a good time was a "LIAR!!" This song and "Country Roads" sure take me back. Glad Bob played them.)
BEGINNING-- CHICAGO-- A song that was two years old and in the Top Ten. From their first album.

FUNKY NASSAU-- BEGINNING OF THE END-- One-Hit Wonder. (My friend Coz also heard the show and likes to try to stump me on a jukebox Name That Tune. Hey Coz, I listened to the show also.)
MANDOLIN WIND-- ROD STEWART-- From his current album, Every Picture Tells a Story, one of THE ALBUMS of the Summer of '71.

SIGNS-- FIVE MAN ELECTRICAL BAND-- Brand new on your radio. (I tried this on karaoke once. I won't do it again. Wasn't pretty at all.)
RESURRECTION SHUFFLE-- ASHTON, GARDNER & DYKE-- Trio out of the UK. This single made its debut on Chicago charts this week. One of my favorites from the era. (Mine, too, Bob.)

A Couple More Entries to Come. Take Me Home, Liar. --RoadDog

UNIVERSAL TRUTHS: Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection again. (Well, I don't know about you, but I'm still stuck on good old VHS.)
