What Were You Doing July 31, 1971?-- Part 3

The songs Bob Stroud played July 31st to mark the 40th anniversary of the Summer of 1971. Could it be that many years ago? Someone's getting pretty old.

You'd be hearing these songs on WLS or WCFL in the Chicago area or they'd be on you stereo as Lps or Singles.

Stroud's comments after the song. My comments in parentheses.

SWEET HITCHHIKER-- CCR-- new single from the group. (My all-time favorite group id I had to pick one from the era.
WATCHING THE RIVER FLOW-- BOB DYLAN-- Not available on any album at this point in time.

SMILING FACES-- UNDISPUTED TRUTH-- new tune by a new group from Motown.
IT'S TOO LATE-- CAROLE KING-- A month ago, on Part 2, this was the #1 single in town. Evidently, it is not anymore. We'll tell you what the new #1 is at the end of the show today. (That Tapestry album by her still is one of my favorites.)

GET IT ON-- CHASE-- (Great horn band, great song. Easy to dance to. I'd give it a 9.)
LOCOMOTIVE BREATH-- JETHRO TULL-- From side 2 of Aqualung. (One of the great guitar intros ever. Can you hum it?

Do You Remember Any of These? --RoadDog

UNIVERSAL TRUTH: I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
