It's Album Sides Thursday Today on the Drive
October 16th, 2014.
Started at midnight on Chicago's WDRV, 97.1 FM. Your chance to hear an entire album side without commercials from those old classics. And, they are playing 'em on vinyl, just like we listened to 'em. You even get to hear the needle dropping on the record. If you're outside of the Chicago area, you can stream it at www.wdrv.com.

"Pleased as Punch." And yet those Punch and Judy puppets always seemed so angry.

The Drive's Album Sides Thursday: On Vinyl
Chicago's WDRV 97.1 FM is having an album sides May Day today, something they unfortunately only do once or twice a year. I wouldn't mind having it once a month myself. Anyway, they play a whole album side ON VINYL, complete with hisses and pops.
That's just the way I used to play 'em back at home in Palatine, Il., the dorms at NIU, the frat house at NIU, home in Dunwoody, Ga., at the dorms and trailer at UGA, apartment in DeKalb, then apartments in Des Plaines and Vernon Hills, Illinois, and our home in Round Lake Beach, Illinois. Even occasionally here in Spring Grove (where I usually play CDs).
Back then, I either stacked them, played them, then flipped them, or, once I got better turntables, played only one and then flipped it.
You hear the needle drop then they play the whole side, commercial free.

The Drive's Album Sides Thursday (No Stacking, Though)
I always love it when WDRV, 97.1 FM in Chicago has their album sides Thursday (even if that does mean no Ten at Ten today). They are playing original vinyl, complete with all those album pops and hisses sounds. This is the way I used to listen to records on the turntable, one side at a time (and even stacking them at one time when I had spindles). You'd listen to one side and flip it over and put another LP on.
They are playing Tom Petty's FULL MOON FEVER right now at 9:04 AM. This goes on until midnight and streams at www.wdrv.com.
Numbers refer to the side played.

Pardon My Vinyl
Chicago's Drive radio station has spent the whole day playing nothing but album sides, and we're not talking CD sides, but 100% pure vinyl, complete with pops and hisses and the intersong quiet.
This is the way I remember listening to my music way back when so it really takes my back. I have a good-sized album collection and must admit I haven't really been listening much to them because of the convenience of Cds. But, still....
Right now, the Drive, WDRV is playing HYSTERIA by Def Leppard side 1 from 1987.
