29. NEVER BEEN TO SPAIN-- Three Dog Night #5 Yep, I've never been there either but would sure like to. Written by country star Hoyt Axton. Played the father on "The Gremlins." Also wrote "Joy to the World," "The Pusher" and the "No No Song."
28. *SON OF MY FATHER-- Giorgio #46 I'd also forgotten this one. Great song. try this at Name That Tune and see if anybody gets it. Most of the comments in a foreign language. Giorgio Moroder from Italy. Produced seven of Donna Summer's albums.

*HEY BIG BROTHER-- Rare Earth #19 Everything you could want from a rock song. Love the organ. That's the drummer doing the singing. Their first five songs all went to #19 or higher.
30. *SUGAR DADDY-- Jackson Five #10 I don't remember this one, but it's a good song. That's Michael and Jermaine trading vocals. Always loved the Jackson Five choreography.
29. *DAY AFTER DAY-- Badfinger #4 Love the start of it. Did George Harrison play the slide guitar on it? Takes me right back to Christmas 1971. Welsh rock quartet. This song produced by George Harrison.
28. *IT'S ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS-- Partridge Family #20 I never heard this one either. Okay girls, ow many of you had crushes on Keith (or was that David?) Their first five songs all went #20 ir higher.
27. *ONE MONKEY DON'T STOP NO SHOW-- Honey Cone #15 Another song that did not get enough air play. Great line: "I love you, but I can do without you."

I was a junior at the University of Georgia at this time fifty years ago, having transferred at the end of my sophomore year from Northern Illinois University. My parents and family were now living in Dunwoody, Georgia, Atlanta northern suburbs. My parents gave me a 1963 Rambler station wagon to go to school.
But, a big reason I transferred was to go to a school with a big football program, which Georgia definitely had. Vince Dooley coached the team which ended the season with an 11-1 record, good for second place in the SEC and a #7 AP ranking. That was a fun year, but I couldn't get over the students attending the games wearing suits and evening dresses. That just wasn't done at Northern.
HEART OF THE COUNTRY-- Paul McCartney Bob Stroud always plays two Beatle songs at 9 am when Terri Hemmert ends her Breakfast With the Beatles show on WXRT.

13. MAGGIE MAY / REASON TO BELIEVE-- Rod Stewart #1 The first song always takes me right back to the Sigma Phi Epsilon house at the University of Georgia.
12. STAGGER LEE-- Tommy Roe #25 Goes Soul? His last Top 40. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1942.
11. MARIANNE-- Steven Stills #42 Born in Dallas, Texas, in 1945. His biggest hit was "Love the One You're With" which peaked at #14 in the earlier part of 1971.

*29. RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS-- Carpenters #2 One of five straight #3 or higher songs from June '70 to September '71. Mercy, That girl could sing. One comment said "perfect voice, flawless."
