Sunday was Bob Stroud's Final Rock and Roll Roots Salute to the Summer of 1976.  Part 4.  It was the songs you were hearing on the radio and playing on your stereo.

I was just starting my 4th year of teaching 7th and 8th graders geography and history at John T. Magee Middle School in Round Lake, Illinois.  We were enjoying the second year living in our first house in Round Lake Beach.  Liz was working at Beach Elementary School in Round Lake Beach, so we did not have far to drive to work.

Bob Stroud did his third part of his annual trip back to the songs of 40 years ago this past Sunday on his Rock and Roll Roots Show on Chicago's WDRV, 97.1 FM.  He goes back the 40 years on the first Sundays of June, July, August and September and plays the songs you'd be hearing on the radio and on your albums back then.

I was finishing the last of my summer enjoyment before starting my fourth year of teaching in Round Lake, Illinois, at Magee Middle School.  We had also been in our new house in Round Lake Beach where we had been living since 1975.  We bought it for $33,000 which was a real lot of music for us back then.

Summer of 1976-- Part 1: "Lido Shuffle"

Every summer, Bob Stroud on Chicago's WDRV, 97.1 FM, the Drive, goes back 40 years to play music from that year.  This being 2016, he went back to 1976 yesterday.  I always really look forward to this trip back in time where he plays music both on the radio and in her album collection and he takes it to the actual date, which was June 5, 1976.

He will also do updates the first Sunday in July, August and September, so you get four times to enjoy memories.
