How 'Bout Them "V" Figures? Something's Not Right

These are the coronavirus figures for April 5, 2020, for select countries with both cases and deaths.

SPAIN:   130,759, 12,418 deaths

ITALY:  124,632,  15,362

CHINA:    81,669,  3,329 deaths

RUSSIA:   5,389,  45 deaths

INDIA:   3,374,  77 deaths

I'm telling you, something isn't right.

Still Wondering About the Russia "V" Stats

As of yesterday, March 29, these are the total number of cases and deaths in select countries. The worst hit so far:

United States:  124,697 cases and 2,227 deaths
Italy:  92,472 cases and 10,023 deaths
China:  81,439 cases and 3,300 deaths
Spain:  78,797 cases and 6,528 deaths

Then, there are these countries:

India:  979 cases and 25 deaths
Russia:  1,534 cases and 8 deaths
Mexico:  993 cases and 20 deaths

Looking at the rest of the countries, it appears that the smaller a country is and the poorer a country is, the fewer the cases.  Or, perhaps they just aren't or can't report the cases and deaths.  We know that Russia is extremely secretive.

I sure would like to know the story with Russia and why Mexico and India are so low.

Very Suspicious.

Deaths: Sitars-- Country Drums

RAVI SHANKAR, 92

Died Dec. 11, 2012.  Sitar virtuoso who introduced much of the Western World to Indian music in the 1960s, thanks especially to the Beatles.  Estranged father of Norah Jones.

Those sitars were really interesting sounds the Beatles, and especially George Harrison, who would have been 70 yesterday, did a lot to bring to us.

WILLIE ACKERMAN, 73

Died Dec. 13, 2012.  Born May 1, 1939.  One of Nashville's A-Team drummers during the 60s to 80s.  Played on thousands of recordings, live performances and television shows.  Staff drummer at the Grand Ole Opry and "Hee Haw."

Played drums for Jerry Reed, Waylon Jennings, Charley Pride, Ernest Tubb, Roger Miller, Marty Robbins, Bobby Bare and Patsy Cline among many others.

I'm a big country fan.

New Words in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Here's some news from one of those Springfield's which did not win the right to host the world-premier of the new Simpsons movie, see roaddogsroadlog.blogspot.com. Evidently, this is where the Mirriam-Webster dictionary is published.

The fall edition will contain about 100 new words. See if you know what some of them they mean:

1. Crunk
2. DVR
3. ginormous
4. IED
5. Bollywood
6. sudoku
7. speed dating
8. smackdown
9. gray literature

I knew 2, 6, 7, and 8. I guess I'm just not WITH it anymore; retired you know.

1. a style of southern rap music
2. digital video recorder
3. combines "gigantic" and "enormous"
4. improvised explosive device
5. India's motion-picture industry
6. number puzzles
7. a different way of meeting people
8. contests in entertainment wrestling
9, hard-to-get written material

I'd like to add this one, Ripemoffus. Big Oil's continuing efforts to rip off the American public.
