2022 Movie Scratches: Godfather-- Batman-- Morbius-- Uncharted

Movie Scratches--  Movies I saw at the theater in 2022.

The last movie I had seen at a theater was in February 2020 and then, COVID-19!!  I finally went back to see my first movie since then on March 24 of this year.  Before that, I had been trying to see 50-60 movies a year.

And, what better movie to get back into a theater than the 50th anniversary of that great movie "The Godfather."  I show the date I saw it, where and how much.

1.  THE GODFATHER--  3-24--  Fox Lake--  $6--  Still making those offers which can't be refused fifty years later.  What a way to return to the movies after that virus thing.   The last movie I had seen in a theater was on February 28, 2020, when I saw "Birds of Prey."

2.  THE BATMAN--  3-31--  Fox Lake--  $6--  You've sure got a lot of cats.  That Riddler was pretty deep.

3.  MORBIUS--  4-12--  Woodstock--  $5--  Watch out for the cure's side effects.  All batty.  A vampire with a conscious.

4.  UNCHARTED--  4-14--  Fox Lake--  $6--    Feed the cat. Where'd they hide the gold?  A cross between Indiana Jones and National Treasure.

55.  JAWS 2--  8-7--  He's BACK.  Well, not him, but a relative?  Sheriff Brady thinks so.  The big shark has a shocking experience.

56.  GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY--  8-8--  "I am Groot."  He can say a lot with those three words.  And those great cassette tapes and songs.  I am still recording on cassettes.  My favorite Marvel crew.

57.  BUMBLE BEE--  8-9--  Those Bots and Cons take a beating but keep right on ticking.  Our favorite yellow fella.

58.  GREATEST SHOWMAN--  8-10--    Rags to riches story. with lots of great singing and choreography.

59.  GODFATHER 2--  8-10--  Moving to Nevada and definitely stay off Michael's bad side.  All that and the Cuban Revolution.

60.  SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION--  8-11--  Quite a story.  Red and the sad librarian who had been institutionalized.  A jerk warden gets his and a magnificent tree.

Johnny's Cafe, Kevin and Kelly's Party and Day After Party

FRIDAY, JUNE 17

Bought half price flowers at our Spring Grove Jewel.  My kind of price.  Gas at the Spring Grove Mobil station at $5.60.  Well, at least it's not over $6.  Big Oil GRBs.

Met Kevin, Kelly, Barb and Glen at Johnny's Cafe in Fox Lake for that great pasta bowl and fish frys and then to the Fox Lake Legion for 50-50.

SATURDAY, JUNE 18

Said goodbye to Sue and Paul over in Ingleside as they will be driving back to New Mexico in their RV.  I had gone to the Indy 500 with them.  

We then went over to Kevin and Kelly's for a party out by the lake.  Came home and watched "The Godfather."  Hard to believe that Paul McCartney is 80 years old today.  

SUNDAY, JUNE 19

I took my U.S. flag down for the day.  There was a reason for that.

Spent quite awhile planting geraniums and went back to Kevin and Kelly's for the Day After Party, always a favorite time.

Ending March: Gas, Trivia, Donovan's, First Theater Movie in Two Years 'The Godfather' and the Tournament

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23

Gas at $3.90 ($3.89.9) in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, and $4.40 in Illinois.  Went to Donovan's and played trivia.

THURSDAY, MARCH 24

My first movie in a theater since February 28, 2020, (and, you-know-why).  Since this is the 50th anniversary of the release of the movie "The Godfather" and the Fox Lake Theatre was showing it, this seemed like a perfect time to go.  They're still charging $6 for matinees (and seniors) and I bought a large container of popcorn (still at $8, but at least you get free refills) to welcome me back and help support them.

These last two years have been quite hard on theaters.   I was expecting there to be a big crowd to see "The Godfather" but I was the only one there.  You might say I had my own personal showing.  That is one magnificent movie.  And, to have the opportunity to see it on the big screen.  Wow!!

Went home and enjoyed Margaritaville, the Ultimate Jukebox and four of the best basketball games in the Tournament that you can imagine.
