Listen to this man. Seven years of college, you know. Trying to reason with 2020 and, now, 2022.

Music Deaths: Don Gardner: 1/2 of Don Gardner and Dee Dee Ford

DON GARDNER, 87

Died September 4, 2018

One half of the Philadelphia duo Don Gardner and Dee Dee Ford.  Their big hit, and only Top 40, was "O Need Your Lovin' "  (#20-1963)

They also had "Glory of Love" (#75-1962) and "Don't You Worry" (#66-1962.  The duo split up in the mid-1960s.

"I Need Your Love" was a two-part song on two sides of the 45.  Part two was the side that got the airplay.  Give the whole song a listen.  But what hooked me was how he started with that "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa" at the start of side two of the 45.

Dee Dee Ford was born Wrechia Holloway in Louisiana in 1936 and died in 1972.  I couldn't ding much about her.

Id you go to You Tube, click on Don Garner Mix.  It has four of his songs, including "I Need Your Lovin" " right away, but listen beyond that as there is some real good Soul and R&B songs I'd never heard before.
