Philadelphia soul singer who had the huge hit "Me and Mrs. Jones" (#1-1972). Born Paul Williams and served in U.S. Army with Elvis Presley. "Me and Mrs. Jones" was his only Gold Record and gave his a Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
It was his only Top Thirty hit. His follow-up records were very controversial with songs like "Am I Black Enough for You" (#79-1973) and "Let's Make a Baby" (#83-1976).
