WLS Top 40 for August 5, 1968-- Part 1: "Please Return Your Love to Me"

These are the Top 40 songs in Chicago back fifty years ago for the week of August 5, 1968.

A (D) means it is a debut.  The number after the artist is how high it got on the Billboard Top 100.

40.  DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO--  Bobby Vee   (D)    #83   After Buddy Holly's death, Bobby Vee and his band filled in at the next show in Fargo, North Dakota and the rest is history.  One of his last Top 100s.  Never heard of it before, but the more you listen to it, the more it grows on you.

39.  PLEASE RETURN YOUR LOVE TO ME--  Temptations  (D)    #26  Not one of their better known songs, but classic slow Motown.

38.  CAN'T YOU FIND ANOTHER WAY OF DOING IT--  Sam & Dave   (D)   #54    Samuel Moore and David Prater.   As good of Soul as it gets.  No wonder they are the Soul men.

37.  EYES OF A NEW YORK WOMAN--  B.J. Thomas    (D)    #28     Billy Joe Thomas.  One of his lesser known, but great songs.

36.  WORKIN' ON A GROOVY THING--  Patti Drew  (D)     #62    Her biggest hit.  Born in Charleston, S.C..  A great song.  Love the guy singing bass.

Name That Tune (from the above songs):  "I'll Never Have To Look For More."  Answer below.  --RoadDog
