Every Blooming THing, Early August: The Yard's At It's Color Peak
From mid July to mid August, the yard is at its colorful peak. It has big color throughout the year which is why I have so many perennials that bloom at different times. But, right now is peak time. There are flowers blooming all over and in masses.
There are still some wild daisies and regular daisies in bloom, but fast fading. And, the hundred or so hostas all have their blue and white flower spikes going. The biggest color comes from hundreds of black-eyes Susans and purple coneflowers. Also, my tall phlox are going to town, as are a lot of daylillies.
July was a very dry month, though, requiring a lot of watering now of both the flowers, bushes and trees as well as grass areas that turn brown. The lawn tractor is set to 3 inches, from two and a half inches to help the grass.
I am doing a lot of trimming and weeding as well as planting.
