Listen to this man. Seven years of college, you know. Trying to reason with 2020 and, now, 2022.

Remembering Glen Campbell-- Part 1: That Old $5 Guitar Leads to Something

From the July 29, 2018, Parade Magazine by M.B. Roberts.

Glen Campbell died at age 81 on August 8, 2017 of Alzheimer's disease.

He grew up on a farm near Delight, Arkansas, about 90 miles southwest of Little Rock.  When he was 4 years old, he received $5 three-quarter-size Sears, Roebuck and Co. guitar by mail order from his uncle.  And, he immediately took to those strings.

By age 6, Glen was performing on the local radio and in his teens playing in bars.  In tenth grade, he quit school and moved to Albuquerque where he played in his uncle's band.  By the early 1960s he was in Los Angeles working with a now-famous group of session musicians called The Wrecking Tour, playing on records for Elvis, Frank Sinatra and the Beach Boys (including  "Pet Sounds" in 1966) and even filled in for Brian Wilson on Beach Boys' tours in '64 and '65.

Later in the 60s, he began charting his own hits, including "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" and "Wichita Lineman."
