Listen to this man. Seven years of college, you know. Trying to reason with 2020 and, now, 2022.

WLS Top 40 for August 5, 1968-- Part 5: "Sky Pilot"

20.  DON'T TAKE IT SO HARD--  Paul Revere & the Raiders    #27   Pride and joy of Portland, Oregon.

19.  SKY PILOT--  Animals     #14   Actually, they were Eric Burdon & the Animals at this point.  One of my all-time favorite songs and clocking in at 7:30.  Can you believe bagpipes in a Top 40 song?

18.  SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE--  Cream     #5     Their first hit (they only had 5 Top 100s.)  One of the greatest guitar riff openings in rock history and what about those drums.

17.  HALF WAY TO PARADISE--  Bobby Vinton     #23   From Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania.  Ya think maybe he's in love?

16.  LADY WILLPOWER--  Union Gap     #2    The first song as Gary Puckett and the Union Gap.   Their first four songs all went Top Ten.  Another horny song, and I don't mean the instruments.

Name That Tune (from the above songs):  "It's Getting Near Dawn When Lights Close Their Tired Eyes."  Answer below.  --RoadDog
