WLS Top 40 for January 12, 1970-- Part 6: "I'll Never Fall in Love Again"


That's right, fifty years ago, today.

15.  WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES--  Joe South     #12    True in 1970.  True in 2020.   Successful Nashville  session guitarist and songwriter.  Also wrote "Down in the Boondocks," "Hush" and "Rose Garden."

14.  I'LL NEVER FALL IN LOVE AGAIN--  Dionne Warwick      #16   Dionne, Burt and Hal.  What else?  Interesting comment:  "The guy who rhymed pneumonia with phone ya was a genius."

13.  BARBARA I LOVE YOU--  New Colony Six     #78     WLS backing the local Chicago bands again.

12.  IF I NEVER KNEW YOUR NAME--  Vic Dana       #47   Written by Neil Diamond.  His next song was also written by Neil Diamond, "Red Red Wine" and these were Vic's last two songs to break into the Hot 100.  His biggest hit was "Red Roses for a Blue Lady" (#10-1965).

11.  WITHOUT LOVE--    Tom Jones    #5    That spoken beginning.  Two crooners in a row on the WLS chart.  Whole title "Without Love (There Is Nothing)."
