Music Deaths: Pat Fairley of Marmalade

Died 11 August 2020

Guitar player and co-founder of Marmalade who had a 1969 hit with cover of the Beatles' "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da."

Scottish rock band from Glasgow.  Originally called the Gaylords.  Changed name in 1966.  They were most successful from 1968 to 1972.

Their two biggest hits:

"Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"  (#1 UK-1969)

"Reflections of My Life"  (#10-1970)

Pat Fairley moved to Los Angeles in the 1970s and after retiring from the music business owned  the music/bar venue called Scotland Yard.  He sold it two years ago, but it is still open.
