Music Deaths: David Bowie

Died January 10, 2016, 69.

It sure took me by surprise this morning to hear that David Bowie had died.  He was one of the major music stars ever since the 1970s.  I liked his music, though he wasn't one of my favorite performers.

WXRT in Chicago had just featured his music on Friday  to celebrate his 69th birthday.  Today they are featuring his music to celebrate his life.

He was born David Robert Jones but changed his last name to Bowie as the Monkees had Davy Jones.

From 1972 to 1987, he charted 25 times, including two #1s and four top tens.

His biggest hits:

1973  Space Oddity #15
1975  Young Americans  #28
1975   Fame  #1

1976  Golden Years  #10
1981  Under Pressure #29  with Queen
1983  Let's Dance #1

1983  China Girl  #10
1983  Modern Love  #14
1984  Blue Jean  #8

1985  This Is Not America  #32
1985  Dancing in the Street  #7  with Mick Jagger
