Real name Peter Halsten Thorkelson.

American musician, composer and actor, best known a the keyboardist and bass guitarist of the Monkees.  He grew up in Connecticut and in the mid-sixties was part of the Greenwich Village folk scene.  He was an accomplished musician and a friend of Stephen Stills.

He moved to Los Angeles with Stills and  was recruited for the comedic and manufactured band, the Monkees, based on the Beatles. and became a star during the TV show's run 1966-1968.

Now, like the Beatles, there are only two Monkees remaining.
