Civil War in Illinois-- Part 5: Gas Gouge-- Chili-- Plams Grill-- More History-- Hooter's-- Bob and Ringo's

MAY 3rd

I was shocked by the station by the TraveLodge that had jumped its price since yesterday by 27 CENTS!! to $4.20. Gas prices were all over the place in Springfield, Illinois. Some places were still at $3.93, many others $4 and over.

Stopped at Joe Rogers for chili since we'd heard so much about it. It was ok, but way too greasy. Hard to eat without getting some on yourself.

Drove Route 66 to Atlanta. Stopped at the Lincoln Visitors Center. Had that great pork tenderloin, the best, at Palms Grill in Atlanta, then went next door to the Atlanta History Museum and did some Civil War research.

Took the old 66 Bypass, Veterans Parkway, in Bloomington and had to use On-Star (which comes with the car for six months) to find the Hooters where we played NTN. I love Hooter's having NTN, but with so few playing, I doubt they'll keep it.

Drove into Pontiac and stopped at Bob and Ringo's, a very unique bar just off the square and had drinks before checking into the Super 8 for the night.
